This is not just an objective

You look through your light microscope, pull the focus, and dive into a world of light, colors, and beauty. What is it you see?

Whatever it might be, THIS IS NOT your sample. What you see is an image produced by the microscope. Perfectly polished lenses and complex physics, all working together to contribute to the quality of the image that’s formed at the focal point, whether that point is your eyes or a detector. So, what is it you see? With Olympus X Line objectives, you see the truth.

See the truth with Olympus
X Line objectives

The heart of every microscope is its objective. Even the best microscope in the world cannot compensate for a poor objective. That’s why we at Olympus have developed a revolutionary new technology that allows us to break barriers in optical performance.

The ever-increasing demands of science require optics that push the boundaries of physics. Olympus X Line objectives enable you to maximize your microscope’s optical performance, so you see the truest representation of your sample without compromise. Achieve more flatness, better color, and higher resolution without changing anything else on your microscope. By focusing our efforts on raw optical capability, your sample looks clearer than ever without the need for heavy image processing. Get more out of your samples because we pack more into our objectives.

See the truth with Olympus X-Line objectives.

Technology Behind the Magic...

Discover the innovative polishing technology behind Olympus X Line lenses. Ultra-thin lenses allow for more optical correction within the existing barrel. This revolutionary lens design allows us to simultaneously improve all the relevant aspects of a high-end lens — and enables you to do better microscopy.

X Line Top Features

Image Flatness

This is Flatness

Discover corner-to-corner uniformity, easily seen on larger fields of view. Save time when scanning multiple areas of a single sample by acquiring fewer images because you know you can trust the image, even at the edges.

This is Color

Don’t settle for less. X Line objective’s highest-quality broad chromatic aberration correction results in much better color reproducibility in your brightfield and multicolor fluorescence images. Bad chromatic correction can falsely show co-localized signals as spatially separated color channels — remove the risk with X Line objectives.

This is Resolution

Really see the details. X Line objective’s high numerical aperture enables high-resolution, bright images. These objectives are especially helpful for minimizing phototoxicity/photobleaching during fluorescence live-cell imaging experiments and can help resolve multiple objects that seem to appear as one.

"The combination of 60X magnification and a high numerical aperture of 1.42 allows me to capture a large field of view at high resolution. My previous 100X objective had an NA of 1.40, so with X Line I get more into a frame and see more details."

"We experienced two big benefits when using X Line objectives. Firstly, the extended field homogeneity largely decreased our processing workflow when stitching whole animal images. Secondly, the gain in light collection provided highly reduced phototoxicity levels due to markedly shortened exposure times. The X Line series objectives outcompete the standard plan apochromat lenses at levels crucial for performance improvement in high-level microscopic experiments."

"The Olympus X Line 20X lens offers a high numerical aperture usually exclusively found in dry 40X or even 60X objectives — rewarding users with unprecedented brilliance and detail. Chromatic aberrations commonly found in nearly all 20X objectives across the board have not only been minimized but have been eliminated altogether. The 20X X Line lens allows me to capture unbelievably detailed footage with excellent depth of field at extremely high shutter speeds thanks to its awesome transmission rate. I can highly recommend the X Line objectives for imaging in all photon-starved microscope applications."
