The software creates 3D surface model and volume rendering from two-dimensional cross-section images using PC platforms.
  • Applied Precision - Designers of the DeltaVision Restoration Microscopy System, Applied Precision offers a complete hardware and software package to assist the microscopist in obtaining high-quality digital images from fluorescent specimens. The package consists of deconvolution software, microscope light path and stage control hardware, and custom optical filters.
  • AutoQuant Imaging - AutoQuant offers three powerful software pages designed for advanced image processing using deconvolution and three-dimensional optical microscopy techniques. AutoDeblur is a deconvolution software package developed for the Windows platform that removes haze, blur, noise, and other artifacts from two- and three-dimensional micrographs. Among AutoQuant's three-dimensional software programs is the powerful AutoVisualize-3D, which is a rendering and visualization program suited for inspecting biomedical imagery, such as optically sectioned widefield micrographs. A second program, OcuView-3D is designed to compensate for motion (shift and rotation) of specimens that are alive and moving.

  • W. M. Keck Center for Cellular Imaging - Scientists at the Keck Center have built an educational website dealing with a variety of aspects in optical microscopy. Included are tutorials on deconvolution, confocal microscopy, and multiphoton microscopy. The tutorials are accompanied by an image library and lists of selected references.
  • Scanalytics Deconvolution - Scanalytics, Inc., a subsidiary corporation of CSP, Inc., offers several software packages for deconvolution microscopy. The flagship program, Exhaustive Photon Reassignment, is a fully integrated system for image acquisition and analysis which provides quantitatively accurate, high resolution 2D and 3D images of fluorescently probed microscopic specimens. Other packages for both the Windows and Macintosh platforms supply algorithms for deconvolution, volume rendering, and deblurring.
  • Scientific Volume Imaging - Specializing in deconvolution and volume rendering software, this company offers several software packages available to the microscopist. The Huygens Professional is a deconvolution application that enables restoration of widefield and confocal 2D, 3D and 4D (time series) images using a UNIX platform that operates on Silicon Graphics computers or LINUX on PC's. The Huygens Essential is based on the same compute engine but has a wizard driven user interface that makes deconvolution very easy. It is available for WINDOWS, LINUX and IRIX.
  • Scientific Volume Imaging: FreeSFP - Based on a physically realistic light propagation model, the SFP renderer allows you to view your raw and deconvolved multi-channel 3D datasets in a very intuitive manner. This freeware is downloadable from SVI's website.
  • John W. Sedat Laboratory - Professor Sedat, along with Dr. David A. Agard, first demonstrated deconvolution microscopy in the 1980s. Recently, they have developed several new methods of three-dimensional microscopy, including computerized wide-field deconvolution microscopy for multiwavelength fluorescence imaging of living cells, and electron tomography for three-dimensional imaging in the elctron microscope.
  • VayTek - Specializing in scientific digital imaging and presentation applications, VayTek manufactures and distributes deconvolution, three-dimension volume rendering, measurement, and presentation software. Also offered are packages that supply digital control for microscope peripherals.
  • XCOSM - XCOSM is an X-Windows interface to Computational Optical Sectioning Microscopy (COSM) algorithms for removing out-of-focus light in 3-D volumes collected plane by plane using either widefield or confocal fluorescence microscopy. The interface allows users to view and process multiple 3-D datasets within a simple mouse-driven environment. Although the software was written for a unix based system, it is possible to compile XCOSM on a PC with linux. Also available on the web site are tutorials, links to other sites, and a list of selected references on deconvolution microscopy.
